It may be difficult to come up with a list of the best young footballers because there are so many premises from which we can base our conclusions such as the potential of the player, achievements so far or the chances of securing a big move. In this article, we have decided to rank the players based on where we think their ceiling is especially those below 23 years of age.
The PSG FC player tops the list of upcoming young footballers with many punters predicting that the lad will one day win the Ballon d’Or. The youngster made 43 appearances for PSG in all competitions scoring 39 goals during the 2018/19 season. This is a great milestone, especially for a 21-year-old. He also became the youngest French player to score for the France national team at the 2018 Fifa World Cup.
Matthijs de Ligt
Matthijs de Ligt is a Dutch player who recently joined Italian giants Juventus after a move from Ajax where he captained the Ajax team to win the domestic trophy after a five-year wait. He also helped Ajax reach the semi-finals of the UEFA champions league competition. The player is one of the best defensive prospects and arguably the best 20-year old defender.
The 19-year-old Borussia Dortmund player hit the headlines last season where he hit double figures in goals and assists, and he is on the way of repeating this incredible achievement this season. The player would fit in the first team of any club and, who knows, he may be on his way to becoming one of the best players in the world.
